Earth Day Festival at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods
Each year, Earth Day offers a chance to step outside, connect with others, and celebrate the places that matter most.
Again this year, Ouabache Land Conservancy joined the community at the Earth Day festival at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods—a gathering that brings together organizations, educators, and community members around a shared appreciation for the natural world.
Showing Up—Rain or Shine
The day brought chilly temperatures and steady rain, shifting us under a tent. While we had planned a hands-on bird migration activity, the tighter space meant adjusting on the fly.
Even so, the heart of the day remained the same.
We spent time connecting with attendees, sharing information about local protected lands, and talking with people about ways to get involved. Whether someone stopped by with a quick question or stayed for a longer conversation, each interaction helped strengthen our connection to the community.
Part of a Larger Community Effort
Events like this are a reminder that conservation doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s part of a broader network of people and organizations working toward a shared goal—caring for the land and creating opportunities for others to experience it.
We’re grateful to the organizers at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods for hosting this annual event and for creating space for that connection, even in less-than-ideal weather.
Looking Ahead
Community events are an important part of how we continue to grow—reaching new audiences, building relationships, and inviting more people into the work.
If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, we’d love to see you at a future event or out on the land!
