Please join Ouabache Land Conservancy as we host Paint Out on the Prairie at Atherton Island Natural Area on June 27th, from 8:00 am to Noon. This free family-friendly event is open to the public and will feature plein air artists Curt Stanfield (OLC Board of Directors), Lynne Dunnavant, Mark Burkett, Jeanne McLeish and Christel Gutelius painting their interpretations of this beautiful prairie at strategic locations throughout its 4-acres. Guests are invited to wander the prairie trail at any time throughout the morning to visit with the artists. In addition, Jim Nardi (OLC Board of Directors) will lead hikes at 9:00 am and 10:30 am to explore the diverse species of prairie wildflowers, grasses and insects that live in the preserve.
No reservations are required and participants are encouraged to wear long pants and sturdy shoes for traversing the relatively flat prairie landscape. The parking area is at 6540 W County Road 800 S, Rosedale, IN (near Lyford, seven-tenths of a mile east of US Hwy 41).
