The Ouabache Land Conservancy (OLC) invites everyone to our James Whitcomb Riley Poetry Hike at the Jackson-Schnyder Nature Preserve on Saturday, October 31st from Noon to 1:30 pm. This event is to celebrate the 16th anniversary of this beautiful preserve’s designation as state-dedicated; and a great opportunity to experience Riley’s nature-focused verse in the very kind of forested midwestern landscape that inspired his writing.
Writer and photographer, Mike Lunsford, will lead hikers through the woodlands boasting 25 species of trees, while sharing the “Hoosier Poet’s” rhymes and connections to Terre Haute – including Eugene V. Debs.
We will meet at the preserve’s entrance at 3635 W. Concannon Ave., West Terre Haute. No reservations are required for this free family-friendly moderate hike. Attendees are encouraged to wear long pants, hiking boots, or good tennis shoes.
