Please join Ouabache Land Conservancy on an easy fall foliage hike of the John O. Whitaker Woods Nature Preserve located in Clay County at 3751 W. County Rd. 950 N., Brazil.  Dr. Jim Speer, Professor of Geography & Geology at Indiana State University, will lead the way through these 43-acre woodlands, sharing about research projects conducted there and identifying trees along the way from 10:00 to 11:30 am on Saturday, October 17th. 

The preserve boasts over 2,250 trees of 34 different species that have been studied and measured 3 times since 1977. The most abundant species in order are: Tulip Tree, Red Hickory, Red Oak, Shagbark Hickory, White Oak, Red Maple, and American Sycamore. No reservations are required for this free family-friendly hike. Attendees are encouraged to wear long pants, hiking boots, or good tennis shoes.
